Payroll Analyst 

Ontario or Quebec | 100% Remote | Full-time | $34 – $35 / HR

We are partnered with a leading operator of restaurants and concession facilities serving over 1.5 million customers across hundreds of travel hubs internationally. Our client has a vision for bringing cool and authentic restaurants to life, and believes in passion, authenticity, and providing sincere service to their customer base. In anticipation of continued growth, they are seeking a like-minded individual to join their team as a Payroll Analyst

 

About the Position:  

This position will be responsible for payroll processing, data reporting, paperwork administration, and recordkeeping to ensure compliance with basic payroll processes. The position will report to the Payroll Manager and will be 100% Remote. Note: Any US candidates with Canadian Payroll experience must reside near Ashburn, VA, and report to the local office two days per week. 

 

Ideal candidates should be driven, enthusiastic, and self-starters with solid payroll experience and familiar with garnishments. They should possess excellent attention to detail and accuracy, and should be someone who enjoys working in a close-knit, collaborative environment.  

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Prepare general ledger (GL) reports and post various payroll journal entries to the accounting system (SAP). 
  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, and off-cycle payrolls in multiple Canadian provinces and territories. 
  • Assist with managing and processing employee garnishments. 
  • Solve payroll issues by utilizing expertise and analytical skills. 
  • Respond to inquiries for information both verbally and in writing while corresponding with diverse levels of employees; Utilize various resources to ensure complete and accurate answers are provided. 
  • Establish and maintain effective communication in partnership with Accounting, HR, and Field Ops teams.  
  • Perform various payroll accounts reconciliations (including bank accounts) and resolve payroll discrepancies. 
  • Comply with all Canadian payroll laws and regulations and revenue requirements. 
  • Assist with additional duties as needed or as assigned by the manager. 

 

Requirements:  

  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related fields. 
  • 3+ years of full-cycle high-volume payroll experience within Food & Beverage, Hospitality, Retail, or related industries. 
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Payroll Laws, Canadian Revenue Agencies, Quebec Revenue Requirements, Union Requirements, and experience processing Garnishments. 
  • Strong proficiency with MS Excel (VLOOKUPs, etc.). 
  • Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment and adapt to change. 
  • Ability to communicate (written and verbal) concisely and enthusiastically with team members and customers. 
  • A Self-starter with a positive and collaborative mindset. 
  • Highly Preferred: Working knowledge of Vista (HRMS) and SAP (ERP).
